PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Equity Advocates partners with food justice leaders to create the preconditions to policy change. We promote the community organizing infrastructure and increase the advocacy capacity of grassroots food systems leaders in New York—the skills, resources, and knowledge that make advocacy possible. Through this work, we are helping to achieve a more resilient and equitable food system.
Our work has two complementary components:
Policy Training
We lead an annual series of advocacy workshops which are designed to give nonprofit leaders the skills needed to further their missions through advocacy.
Movement Building & Organizing
We provide provide vital coalition leadership, including strategic policy direction and back-end infrastructure support for food systems coalitions. Since early 2020, our organizing efforts have focused on the NY Food Policy Alliance, a multi-sector group of 70+ food system stakeholders from across New York.
